For SSA Rs 3270 cr Proposed Outlay 2015-16 Approved

SRINAGAR, Apr 13 : The Executive Committee Ujala Society - Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), headed by Chief Secretary, Iqbal Khandey, Monday, approved the proposed outlay of Rs 3270 Crore for the year 2015-16 for implementation of flagship scheme in the State.
According to an official statement this evening, the proposal envisages opening of 442 Primary Schools, 225 Upper Primary Schools besides engagement of 1559 new teachers. "As many as 1531 seasonal centres will also be opened for imparting education to over 36000 nomadic children."
"While reviewing the overall implementation of the flagship SSA in the State, Chief Secretary emphasized on early completion of all the construction works of school buildings and additional class rooms and centres. He said Deputy Commissioners should specifically take interest to ensure that school buildings get ready for conducting classes at the earliest," the statement said.
He also called for special effort to ensure that each and every school going child is provided better classroom facilities. He said computers, projectors and other audio-visual tools should be promoted and used in schools to aid learning and to enthuse greater interest in children.
"Teacher training becomes necessary to expose the children studying in government schools to the latest technology and computer aided learning especially in Maths, science and social studies", he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary asked the Commissioner Secretary Education to take special review meeting on the functioning of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidalayas (KGBVs). Meant for providing quality education to the girls, 99 KGBVs are operational in the State.
Khandey also stressed on enrolment of all 'out of school' children in schools which are estimated to about 45000, the statement said.
"Over 10 lakh students are enrolled in 22662 Primary and 10053 Upper Primary Government schools in the State."
