Stipend to terrorists; No salary for teachers 4/15/2015 12:02:36 AM Bivek Mathur Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 14 : It's astounding that in Jammu and Kashmir surrendered terrorists get stipend regularly for doing nothing, while the teachers engaged under the academic arrangement 2014-15 are without salary for the past 7 months. Sources said that as per notification number Edu-Coll/Adv/Acd/Arrg/JD/2014-15 dated 26-06-2014, Government invited applications for the engagement of Lecturers/Teaching Assistant on academic arrangement in various Government Degree Colleges of Jammu division for the session 2014-15. Counseling of aspiring Lecturers/Teaching Assistant was done in between August 11-13, 2014 through notification number GGM/Sci/Coll/2790-91 dated 08-08-2014. One of the lecturers posted in far off village in Jammu division on condition of anonymity told Early Times that after joining the college, he has received only one month's salary while the salary of seven months is still pending. With this he alleged that there are gross disparities in disbursement of salaries as in some cases, lecturers are getting salaries for two months and in many cases lecturers are getting salary for only one month. He alleged that salaries are released after greasing the palms of a few senior officials in the salary disbursing department. He added that as per SRO 255 of 2003, contractual lecturers are to be paid Compensatory Allowances (CA) but as a matter of fact the same is not being given to the teaching staff posted in Degree Colleges in far flung areas of the state. Whenever the question of CA is raised with the concerned authorities, their reply usually remains unacceptable and their attempt is always to make silly departure from the reality. As far as Government Degree Colleges of far off villages in Jammu province are concerned, the availability of non teaching staff is also limited and under such circumstances the teaching staff has to do works assigned to non-teaching staff.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
