Ambedkar birth anniversary: BJP minister hijacks prog, criticised for sidelining others | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 14: In the BR Ambedkar birth anniversary celebrations, there was a lot of resentment against a BJP minister for his alleged act of using his "influence" to hijack the programme and sidelining other prominent members of the community. While the BJP's popular slogan "Sabka Sath" was being treated disrespectfully, two RSS stalwarts, who were also present in the function, watched everything as mute spectators. The programme, like every year, was organised in a gala manner by Anusuchit Morcha of the state unit of BJP. Though the programme witnessed a huge presence of people from almost all the SC communities, it was fully controlled by BJP minister Bali Bhagat and a few of his "unwanted" supporters. It was only the minister and his men who had allegedly occupied the stage from the beginning to the end, causing a great resentment among those who were "deliberately" ignored. In all, there were four main speakers, including the minister, who belonged to the group that had dominated the show proceedings. The community leaders like Bansi Lal Bharti (sole SC leader and founding member of BJP) and Chaman Lal Kanathia, ex-MLA from Raipur-Domana and Bharat Bhushan were completely ignored and not invited on the stage. Some community members termed this act of the minister as "intolerable" and said it should be condemned in the strongest words by one and all as it should not have happened on the birth anniversary of a towering personality like Ambedkar. They said they were not given the fair chance of participation in the function. They were also surprised over the role of the two RSS leaders who did not object to the minister's conduct of "hijacking" the function and ignoring others. |
