JKKTF demands compensation | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Apr 14: All Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Tehrik Forum (JKKTF) today organized a huge rally that commenced from Ram Lila Medan to culminate at DDC Office Kathua. The large number of farmers hailing from District Kathua raised demand of apposite compensation for the affected crops due to recent rains and hailstorms. The protest was led by Guro Ram, district President of the forum. Farmers demanded compensation for those affected farmers too who are deprived off Kissan Credit cards and damaged crops estimated less than 33%. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi recently announced compensation for 33% losses. While interacting to media, Jatendra Singh Andotra alias Papu, a Kissan leader, said farmers could not sale their previous crops due to low and unfixed prices of agricultural products but now rains have washed out their all hopes of livelihood. He sought apposite compensation and appealed the state government for instant compensation. It is pertinent to mention here that 80-100% crops of some farmers have been damaged in Changran, Nagri, Lakhanpur, Jakhwar, Barnoti, Bhagthali etc that needs immediate support from government for livelihood and to maintain fertility of the land for future perspective. Romesh Singh, Sewa Ram, Banarsi Dass, Raj Kumar and many others addressed the protesters and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister of the state Mufti Md Sayeed through DDC Kathua. |
