Set up judicial inquiry commission to probe exodus of KPs' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: Panun Kashmir, an organisation of Kashmiri Pandits, on Tuesday demanded setting up of a judicial inquiry commission to probe the reasons behind the mass exodus of the community from the Valley. A resolution in this regard was passed by the Panun Kashmir leadership at a conference. The organisation demanded that the commission should look into the violence against Kashmiri Pandits and the cases against the perpetrators be tried in fast track courts. Ashwani Chrungoo, the organisation's president, said that it was in 2000 that Panun Kashmir adopted a resolution on "Kashmiri Pandit Nirvasan Samvat" which later found great support at all levels. "The resolution emphasises that due to the mishandling of the Kashmir tangle by the powers that be, the current exile of the Pandits may not terminate in the very near future," he said. Virender Raina, national spokesperson, said, "There is a need to pursue the agenda of homeland vigorously by the community as it is the only module that opens new vistas for the dignified life of the Pandit community." |
