Difficulties of Border Residents
5/9/2015 10:58:22 PM
The border resi
dents mainly
has been engaged into agricultural activities and they are busy round the year with their work. From Kathua to Akhnoor it is called IB international border, rest is LOC and LAC upto Ladakh and many towns like Akhnoor, R.S. Pura, Arnia, Samba, Kathua fall at the border line in Jammu Sector, where they visit for neccassary purchase of daily use items etc. These people are quiet hard worker and they are serving in the army also. People are god fearing and never clash with each other and respect in all religions and faith and live with love and brotherhood irrespective of their different languages. They speak Dogri as a main language and in some area they speak Punjabi with Dogri mixture. Their life style is obviously different than urban people. They are making hard work in their agricultural fields rather than going outside. Animals rearing, self made business is their back bone to sustain, and being the agriculture is the main source of livelihood, but in recent times they are facing some difficulties due to border firing, unrest for which they are not able to plough their fields especially at the border line. They are being targeted without any reasons and by the reason and their routine life gets disturbed. They are not able to send their children to schools; and plan for cultivation their field well at time. Many times they loose their near and dears in border shelling and for those particular days they are not getting enough help to heal their wounds. So at every moment of life only test of restrain comes which upset them. The concerned authority is not working so fastly at the time of such emergency which need to be happened sharply as and when firing incidents take place in that area.
The incidents on border and deep inside the NHAI which claimed our Precious lives and there border helpless people has demanded so many times to construct for them, shelter to use at the time of emergency, some steps no doubt be taken from Govt. Side but other difficulties like education to border children, concession in Job selection some more attractive package in anticipation to their crop damage. A monitoring team may be raised so that every sufferer may get compensation and other concession. Some NGOs may also visit border from time to time to access and support these people. Hope a message out of this, may go to some quarters for redressal of issues pertaining to them. Local People may also be given opportunity to keep vigil on such anti-national elements with some financial support so that they can help law & order agencies to control such incidents.
