Eye specialist transferred, department runs headless | Doda hospital turns blind | | Bijay Charak
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 9: Recent transfers of doctors in the department of health has adversely affected the functioning of the district hospital Doda, as the only Eye Specialist was transferred in April and the reliever has not arrived till date. Sources in health department informed Early Times that the situation of DH Doda has worsened due to recent transfers of doctors. It was very astoundingly that instead of filling up the vacant posts of doctors , the government transferred those doctors who were available here and now the posts are lying vacant. As per data, there are 17 sanctioned posts of Assistant Surgeon in the hospital but at present only seven are filled and rest are vacant. Mohmmad Iqbal a resident of Assar said that he visits district hospital Doda for his mother eye treatment but in absence of Eye specialists they refer us to Government Medical College Jammu for their surgery. Castigating the state government, Iqbal said that it was very difficult for us to visit Jammu for treatment. "Few days ago my neighbor's son visited the hospital but was referred to Jammu for treatment. They said the doctor in the district hospital had been transferred. Admitting shortage of doctors in district hospital Doda, Medical superintendent Dr Yaqoof said hospital has been facing shortage of staff and now in recent reshuffle, eye specialist have been transferred from Doda to other hospital and no one have been posted of that place. "Hospital administration informed to the higher authority about the shortage of doctors", he said, adding that hope in next transfers state government fill up the vacant post of doctors. |
