Early Times Report jammu, May 9: The Pradesh Congress president GA Mir is learnt to have approached the party high command as a number of senior Congress leaders have raised a banner of revolt against PCC and formed a third front to raise their voice. Taking cognizance of the development, AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs Ambika Soni has summoned former MP veteran party leader and die hard Azad loyalist, who is believed to be instrumental in bringing the rebels together. According to the sources in Congress circles, a number of senior party leaders, virtually sidelined in the new PCC, have raised banner of revolt against the State unit president and his official team. These dissidents, including Azad loyalists as well as those having allegiance with former PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, have formed a third front to raise their voice against the incumbent official team. Prominent among these dissidents include Mula Ram, Gulchain Singh Charak, R S Chib, Jugal Kishore, Hari Singh, Prem Sagar Aziz, Subash Gupta, Subash Bhagat, Swarn Lata and others, who have been sidelined in the new PCC, which was formed recently by the president GA Mir. Peeved over their marginalizing in the PCC, these leaders did not attend the party's official functions and series of district conventions, organized recently. The executive body meeting of the PCC was also boycotted by these dissidents as a mark of protest. Demanding immediate review of the PCC, these dissidents have now called a meeting of the group on May 11 at Dogra Sadar Sabha Jammu at 11.30 a.m to discuss their further course of action, sources informed. Sensing gravity of the trouble and taking a serious note of the activities by dissident camp, sources said that the PCC president G A Mir took up the matter with AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs Ambika Soni and sought her intervention. Since the new PCC as well as the president are believed to be the choice of Ambika Soni, she acted swiftly and summoned former MP, who was allegedly instrumental in formation of the third front, sources explained. While the outcome of meeting between Ambika Soni and Janak Raj Gupta was still awaited, sources said that the dissidents met today at the residence of Thakur Hari Singh and reiterated their resolve to go ahead with their proposed convention on May 11. |
