SAI to hold trials for STC Jammu from May 18 | Residential hostel for Basketball, Handball trainees | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 8: Sports Authority of India (SAI) has decided to hold two-day selection process to pick up suitable candidates for its residential and non-residential schemes through its newly establishes Sports Training Centre (STC) at MA Stadium, here. The selection trials shall take place on May 18 and May 19 under the guidance of experts in the field deputed by the SAI North Regional Centre. For two sports disciplines of basketball and handball only boys shall be selected at residential centre. In other discipline of badminton both boys and girls shall be selected for non-residential scheme. "Those interested players in the age groups of 12-18 years, who have represented district and secured first and second position, are only eligible for appearing in the trials. However, extraordinary tall boys, who have not played at the district or state level, may also appear for the selection process", informed incharge STC Jammu, Varinder Sharma. Candidates must report at the office of the STC Jammu at MA Stadium, here on May 18 at 8 am sharp along with their original Date of Birth certificates, participation certificate and proof of residence. "Those selected boys and girls shall be provided free boarding, lodging and residential schooling as per the norms of the SAI," further said Varinder Sharma.
