Tackle Pak before it's too late | India view J&K as core issue too | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 10 : Pakistan has yet again provoked the Indian nation. It has admitted that that there is no prospect of immediate resumption of India-Pakistan talks and, at the same time, made a nasty statement that Kashmir is the core issue and other issues including terror were sub-set of the bigger issue. "Pakistan viewed Jammu and Kashmir as the core issue. All the other issues, including terror, were a sub-set of the bigger and central Jammu and Kashmir issue," Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has told TV channel in an interview. "I have since August been meeting Hurriyat leaders and Indian government has not objected," he has also said and it must alarm the Indian nation and friends and well-wishers of India. His statement that "Pakistan continues to view the excuse as frivolous" also needed to be taken very seriously. Earlier in August 2014 and on the Pakistan Day on March 23, 2015, he had hosted a party to Kashmiri separatists also to provoke the Indian nation, which had lambasted him and Pakistan for its provocative actions and demanded stringent action against Pakistan. It is clear that Pakistan will not change its stand on Jammu & Kashmir. It is also clear that it will play a big mischief in Srinagar this summer to vitiate the atmosphere there. Reports from Kashmir suggest that situation in the Valley has assumed alarming proportions and there is the possibility of the Kashmiri separatists creating a situation in the Valley which could be worse than what it was in early 1990, when the miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus quit their homes and hearths to become refugees in their own country. Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who has been put under house arrest for his anti-India Tral event of May 1, continues his subversive activities from his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar and there are many others who are loyal to Pakistan and him who are trying their best to provoke anti-India protests in Kashmir by raking up emotive issues such as the duration of the Amarnath Yatra. Pakistan says that it views Jammu and Kashmir as the core issue, but for the Indian nation Jammu and Kashmir is a core issue too. It was for nothing that it invested so much during the past 67 years to preserve the Indian sovereignty in the state. It didn't sacrifice thousands of our brave soldiers and jawans for allowing Pakistan to take away the state from India. Jammu and Kashmir was, is and shall always remain a core issue for India and the nation will not allow Pakistan to take an inch of this part of Jammu and Kashmir. That's not the point. The point is the weak-kneed policies of the present dispensation in New Delhi. One may or may not believe it, but the truth is that people have started questioning the very policy of the BJP-led NDA Government towards Pakistan and Kashmir and they are raising questions in the wake of the developments which unfolded in the Valley after March 1, 2015 and the meek and weak response of New Delhi towards them. New Delhi has to allay the Indian fears by adopting a pro-active policy and telling the international community that India means business and it will not tolerate anything non-sense. |
