CCI criticizes Finance Minister 5/21/2015 11:54:47 PM Jammu, May 21: Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) has criticized the statement of Finance Minister Hasseb A Drabu, that GST would not be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. According to press release, a meeting of CCI was convened today in the Chamber House under the Presidentship of Rakesh Gupta. The Chamber observed that such statement being issued by the Finance Minister unilaterally speaks of his high headedness. The Chamber also feels that the present government of J&K is working as a dictatorship and not as a democracy. The taxes in the form of irrational VAT, service tax which are already on the higher side comparing PAN India are already burning issues against which the chamber is already agitating against the government. The Chamber warns the Finance Minister not to come out with the excuses of special status but try to understand the problems of the trade and industry. It may not be out of place to mention that till recently the Finance Minister of J&K was heading the Empowered Committee and making such statements shall only deface the image of J&K across India. The Chamber has already warned the government that if their genuine pre-budget demands do not meet justice, the chamber may adopt the course of total non cooperation and ask the business community not to pay any kind of taxes to the state government soon. The chamber advises and cautions the government to adopt positive track and arrange a meeting with Chamber of Commerce & Industry so that the matters are amicably solved before it is too late. And at the same time President Chamber of Commerce & Industry gives an invitation to the Finance Minister for a open discussion on any TV Channel so that the people of the J&K State and the business community knows the facts as to who is on the wrong side.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
