Jammu, May 21: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today staged one day sit-in (dharna) protest demonstration outside the office of Jammu & Kashmir State Human Rights Commission. According to press release, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman NPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia President NPP and Yashpal Kundal President young Panthers along with several other leaders and activists on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh termed the socio-political bias perpetuated against the Jammu region as a synonym of human rights violation of the Dogra-Pahari people. He exhorted the people to get united and raise the voice in unison in order to launch a decisive assault against the discrimination inflicted by the sinister BJP-PDP coalition and said that the people of Jammu region who had pinned high hopes from BJP were feeling extremely disappointed over the highly timid approach of the Saffron Party towards the issues of Jammu region as well as the concerns of unemployed youth. He said that while the fight for AIIMS and artificial Lake project over the river Tawi had to continue, there were several issues on which the BJP had compromised at the cost of its kernel dogma and ideology. He said that the issues of New Recruitment Policy, state subject for west Pak Refugees, voting rights to them in Assembly and local bodies polls, State govt. jobs for such WPRs, issuance of Dogra certificate to Jammu youth, State Subject for children of daughters of J&K married outside, empowerment of Jammu, abolition of custodian Deptt. and conferment of ownership rights to its occupants, gainful employment for educated unemployment youth, etc only pertained to the human rights violation of the people of Jammu region which were incorporated in the Saffron Party's Elections manifesto before ascending to power. He however regretted that the BJP's pre-poll promises turned into post poll somersaults thus belying all hopes and aspirations of the Jammu people. Balwant Singh Mankotia while strongly condemning the highly incongruous and contradictory statements being made not only by the alliance partners but also by the separate BJP Ministers admonished the BJP leadership for attempting to mislead and confuse the people of Jammu. He said that BJP leaders had made a mockery of themselves by taking different stands at different locations to suit different situations. Cautioning the BJP Ministers and Legislators to refrain from surrendering on the issue of AIIMS by holding assurances of another AIIMS like institute for Jammu, Other who spoke on the occasion included Gagan Pratap Singh, Sham Gorkha, Ashok Randawa, Rajesh Pargotra, Pushvinder Manhas, Yashpal Manhas, Neeraj Gupta, Parshotam Parihar, Balwan Singh, Shanker Singh Chib, Aditya Hans, Asha Rani, Dhani Ram Atri, S. Paramjit Singh Marshal, Kulbir singh Chib, S. Bhagwan Singh, Arun Khajuria etc. |
