Khour drug case: More contraband and cash amounting to over Rs 4.49 lakhs recovered | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 21: Continuing its hectic searches on twelve days after the arrest of the wife of late Sarfu -a notorious narcotic smuggler from Akhnoor, Police today claimed to have seized five more packets heroin worth crores in international drug market besides Rs 4.4 Lakh and a gold necklace on the disclosures made by the wife of drug mafia here today. Police sources today said that they have recovered biggest ever heroin (over 8 kgs) along with Rs 13.5 lakh and gold necklace after the disclosures of Preeto Devi wife of infamous international trans-border smuggler Sarfu. Police sources said that during questioning in Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) where the four accused including the wife of notorious trans border drug smuggler, the woman further disclosed about concealing consignment and cash in the backyard of her house. "On her disclosures, a Police team led by SDPO Akhnoor Naresh Singh under the supervision of SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand took the accused Preeto to her home, police sources said, adding, "during raid police dug out huge consignment of contraband and cash including 5 packets of heroin, Rs 4.4 lakh and a gold necklace weighing around 4 tolas which was allegedly purchased by the money after selling narcotics," police sources maintained, and claimed, "It is the biggest ever recovery made by the Jammu police." Pertinently Preeto alongwith three other family members was arrested when Khour police on May 8 when police team recovered huge consignment of narcotic and psychotropic substances on their disclosures. On her disclosure police also not only had recovered 4.1 kilograms of heroin substance, but also Indian currency to the tune of Rs 8.9 lakh and 9 mobile phones by digging at various place, they added. Pertinent to mention that all the accused were booked in a case under FIR number 29/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act which stands registered at Police Station Khour and investigation is on to arrest other persons involved in this cross-border narcotic smuggling trade. Police sources said, "Sarfu's two sons namely Sunny and Sanjay Kumar are already arrested in narcotic smuggling case and are presently lodged in Jail at Amritsar, Punjab." Pertinently, Sarfu Ram had become a highly controversial trans-border smuggler after his links in narco terrorism-cum-hawala channel surfaced and it was found that he had links with drug mafia in New Delhi. |
