SSP Udhampur flags off Ist batch of 7th National Heritage Trek Expedition

Udhampur, May 21: Mohammad Suleman Choudhary Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur flagged off a contingent of 30 trekkers from different parts of country participating in 7th National Heritage Trek Expedition being organized by Youth Hostels Association of India J&K State Branch.
Speaking on the occasion, Choudhary said that he himself is fond of trekking and he loves the adventure sports and also use to participate in many trekking expeditions. He said that Udhampur Police like previous years this year also extend full support. Dr. Taran Singh Hon. State Secretary said that the eight years journey of this national level event remain very challenging. The success story is that the programme has continued without any untoward incident and leaving a strong impact on the people and the area covered under the trek. It is also now catching the attention of the National & the International Trekkers. This can be attributed to the cheapest trek fee and concessional fee for trekkers from Jammu & Kashmir State. Almost 50% concession is given to trekkers from J&K.
He further added that the trek covered the areas with Udhampur as the Base Camp, Karimchi temples of heritage importance. First night halt at Pancheri Forests with rich flora and fauna on way to 2nd night halt at Lander, 3rd night halt at Sanasar a beautiful meadow with a lake in the centre and perched with Fur forests on all sides is also a hub for Para-droppers. Passing through Natha Top with barren hills and high velocity winds giving a varied experience to the trekkers, 5th night at the world famous tourist resort of Patnitop in thick Deodar forest; 6th night halt at Mantalai where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parwati were married via Gauri Kund where Goddess Parwati used to worship Lord Shiva and Sudh Mahadev where the lord Shiva killed the Demon who was chasing Goddess Parwati. 7th day morning the trekkers transferred by bus to base camp Udhampur and disperse after evaluation and receiving certificates.
