Raising ingress level through ceasefire violations
6/3/2015 10:26:44 PM
If the Pakistani Army, deployed on the LOC,and the Rangers, guarding the International Border in Jammu sector, indulge in repeated ceasefire violations there seems to be one purpose behind this activity. It is not that Pakistani soldiers wish to test the combat preparedness of the Indian troops because during the last 68 years the Pakistani forces have tested the capacity of the Indian troops whether in 1947,1965,1971 or the Kargil conflict of 1999.During all these armed conflicts Pakistan has tasted defeat.Hence the only purpose behind these ceasefire violations was to provide assistance to militants, who have been brought on the launch pads across the LOC and the IB,wishing to cross into Jammu and Kashmir. There is no doubt that the Pakistan Army supports terrorist activities throughout the world (Remember the Osama episode where he used to stay in a military protected area). In order to send some of those terrorist over to India, Pakistan Army needs to create a diversion. When you are firing, your concentration over the other area reduces, as you start concentrating over the fire region. Hence there can be cover-up fire for letting those terrorists in India.
Soon after the BJP led NDA Government was installed in New Delhi in May last the number of ceasefire violations have increased. If in 2013 there were 96 incidents of ceasefire violations the number of such violations was over 746 during the last one year of Modi rule and out of that more than 680 were registered in the region of Jammu. It seems that agencies across the IB and the LOC,including the Pakistani Army, believe that compared to the Kashmir valley the region of Jammu has remained quite peaceful and the number of militancy related violence and activities had nose dived.Hence these agencies want to trigger violence which is possible if groups of militants are pushed into the Jammu region. These agencies have come to realize that without providing material, moral and political support step-up in violence was not possible in Jammu and Kashmir and hence to ensure that the level of violence was escalated Pakistani Army resort to ceasefire violations simply to carve out a passage for militants. Akhnoor, Samba, R.S.Pura, Suchetgarh and Kathua have borne the brunt of these ceasefire violations.
This is what has been witnessed du ring the last one week.In Tangdhar area in north Kashmir as many as five infiltrators were killed. In another ceasefire violations three Indian Armymen lost their lives when they came under gun fire from the Pakistani soldiers and militants. Despite the loss of three Indian soldiers, the Indian troops have succeeded in foiling repeated infiltration bids. But in doing so there is every possibility for some human error which could facilitate infiltration by two to three militants out of a group of 10 to 20 infiltrators. In fact another reason behind these ceasefire violations could be to keep the Kashmir issue in the limelight so that New Delhi was forced to resume talks with Islamabad for resolving various bilateral issues, including that of Kashmir. But New Delhi has made it clear to Islamabad that there could be no possibility for the resumption of talks until Pakistan created a peaceful atmosphere free of terror. Not only this India has told Pakistan to initiate action against those involved in Mumbai carnage of 2008.New Delhi wants Islamabad to initiate measures so that the soil of Pakistan was not used for exporting terror to India before talks could be resumed.
