Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, June 3: The statement of Omar's uncle on waving of Pak flags in Kashmir would definitely have shamed former Chief Minister who had recently targeted Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, questioning his silence over repeated incidents of waving Pakistani flags in the rallies of separatist leaders across Kashmir. Mustafa Kamaal, who has been a former Minister and MLA has not only made Omar put his foot in his mouth, but also shamed his brother and former Union Minister and Chief Minister of the state for decades, Farooq Abdullah, who has umpteen times vouched for the sovereignty of India. Kamaal's statement that 'Pak had become part of Kashmiris' lives since1947' has raised serious question mark on entire Abdullah family yet again. While Kamaal has been making such controversial statements against Indian state and Indian Army repeatedly in the past, another of Omar's uncles, late Sheikh Nazir had openly denied being an Indian citizen. Tongue waggling Kamaal was sacked by his brother and National conference president Farooq Abdullah during NC-Congress coalition regime from the posts of Additional General Secretary for his unwarranted statements that had put his party and family in awkward situations. Kamaal had been making statements on relationship with the Congress party, AFSPA and the role of the Army, which were incoherent to party's policy line. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had pointed out that Dr Kamal's statements had put him in an "extremely awkward position". However, many believe that Kamaal issues off the cuff statements only to remain politically relevant. Kamaal has not uttered against Indian state and Indian army alone, he has also launched scathing attack against separatist leader SAS Geelani in the past, calling him a double agent" on "the payroll of Pakistan". "Whenever even a Pakistani clerk comes to India and summons this ex-lawmaker, he rushes to Delhi to take dictation about how to ensure that uncertainty prevails in the state," he had said. |
