IGNOU examination centers under scanner, ADC Kishtwar constituted teams | Menace of mass copying | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, June 3: Like every examination conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, the examination conducted at various examination centres of internally reputed open university Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) across the Jammu region are no different when the issue of growing menace of mass copying in examination is concerned. Since this year, the examinations at various IGNOU centres across Jammu Division begin from 1st of June 2015 and will continue up 27th of June 2015. Many people raises eyebrows and questioned the process, the way examination is being conducted by the private IGNOU examination center not only in Kishtwar District, but in adjoining District Doda as well as at other private institutes spread across the Jammu Division as well as in Kashmir Division as many people allege that many IGNOU centers, particularly private centers are glorifying the menace of mass copying for certain considerations as "Mass copying" industry already works allegedly in Doda and Kishtwar districts in various board examinations including that of practical examination of 10th and 12th class at some centres. Reacting to the public allegation, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik ordered immediate constitution of various teams to be headed by Chief Education Officer Kishtwar, beside local SDM/Tehsildar and SHO of the local police station under which the jurisdiction concerned IGNOU center falls so that the reports of menace of mass copying could be gagged with iron hands. "It has been reported that examination conducted at IGNOU centers in respect of District Kishtwar like Chatroo, Kishtwar, Padder & Drabshalla centers is often not conducted in free and fair manner and the candidates are often allowed in the centers with incriminating study material without check either before commencement of the examination or during the examination" read ADC Order, adding that there is likely hood of nuisance in view of the fact that such malpractice create obstruction to the candidate who intended to take examination in free and fair manner and imposed blanket ban on entry of every non entity inside the IGNOU examination centers other then the officials involved in conducting the examination or the officials of the team constituted by him. ADC Kishtwar also directed SP Kishtwar to ensure full proof security in and around IGNOU examination centers. As per the details available with "Early Times", there are four IGNOU centers at Kishtwar and out of these four centers, three IGNOU centers runs privately at Chatroo, Padder and Drabshalla while the fourth IGNOU center runs from Government Degree College Kishtwar. Similar number of IGNOU centers runs in adjoining Doda District. The people allege that some influential candidates both local as well as outsiders not only mange to pass the examination, but also secure good percentage of marks ranging above 80 by allegedly influencing the officials. Reacting to the allegations, Jaffer Wani owner of the private IGNOU center at Chatroo informed that the examination of his center is being conducted at Degree College Chatroo and no one associated with his center is on examination duty and termed the numerous anonymous complaints as motivated to defame the name of his center. "It is the same degree college Chatroo and its staff who conducted the college examination--- I am open to any scrutiny--- yesterday Tehsildar Chatroo and SHO visited the examination center--- they found nothing and remain sited inside the examination center for hours together" said Jaffer Wani, added that any team of senior college lecturers, professors, Principal of college or schools to be deputed by the ADC Kishtwar are welcome. He said that only the examination of Chatroo center is being conducted at Degree College, while the examination of other private IGNOU centers is either being conducted inside High School or Higher Secondary Schools. "I urged ADC Kishtwar to constitute team to scrutinize the pass out record of last three years of Chatroo IGNOU center to check that how many students pass out from IGNOU center Chatroo with over 80% marks--- I am sure no one had pass with 80 or more percent marks from his center--- it would be hardly anyone with above 80% marks in entire state" said Jaffer Wani. He said that all the allegations leveled against his center are untrue. It is pertinent to mention that compare to degrees/certificates of many deemed or distance universities, the degree issued by IGNOU is not only valid in India, but is also acknowledge world wide as a result of which many students preferred to avail IGNOU recognized degrees for their adjustment in government or private jobs. The degrees provided by many private study centers many a time either found invalid or fraud. |
