Jammu, June 3: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has reportedly warned Central University of Jammu (CUJ) authorities for their delay in sending a satisfactory reply on the complaint of corruption in construction works going on in main campus at village Bagla in district Samba. Sources informed Early Times that someone from Jammu had reportedly sent a written complaint to Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) regarding embezzlement in the construction works and sought an enquiry. "The complaint was forwarded by CVC to UGC, and in return the UGC forwarded it to CUJ authorities. It happened a few months ago and the UGC had sought a detailed reply, but CUJ authorities did not send a satisfactory reply," the sources said. They said the former Vice Chancellor and his "blue eyed" officials, who were allegedly hand in glove with the persons executing construction works, had tried to evade queries by sending a vague reply but the UGC took a serious view of it and shot another letter to them. In the latest letter, the UGC has explicitly made it clear to CUJ authorities to either send a detailed reply or be ready for an enquiry, said the sources, adding that the letter has sent shock waves among some officials of the CUJ. "Quality is being compromised in the ongoing construction of upcoming campus of university," the sources alleged. |
