'Mainstream parties need to fight jointly against separatism in Kashmir'
6/3/2015 11:19:00 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 3: Crisis in Kashmir are taking a critical turn by the day, with militants adopting new strategies to disturb peace in the trouble torn Valley keeping in view the beginning of new tourist season.
The recent attack on mobile towers and waving of Pakistani flags in public rallies and meetings is the new strategy of Pakistan and militants to disturb the peace in the Valley. Right from the day when separatist and Pakistani agent Masrat Alam was released from the jail, the situation started deteriorating in the Valley.
Soon after his release, Masrat shouted pro-Pak slogans challenging the unity and integrity of the state.
Though government was left with no option but to put the mastermind of 2010 stone pelting violence behind bars, other separatist leaders followed suit and they too started waiving of Pak flags in their rallies with hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and JKLF supremo Yasin Malik openly defending it.
According to political analysts the militants and separatists are enacting this entire drama to remain in news and garner public opinion as on ground the people of Valley have denounced the terrorism and launched a open war against it.
There is no love left for separatists and militants who earlier call themselves Mujahids among the people as the common Kashmiri is totally fed up with 26-year long turmoil which put the state on the path of destruction bringing its economy to grinding halt, say analysts.
They said the last year's devastating floods and continuous rains this year is being considered a nature's fury by Kashmiris who now want return of peace by saying good bye to the militants and separatists who have ruined the state.
For a common Kashmiri these are some vested elements who take part in protest demonstrations and rallies; otherwise the people in general have nothing to do with it.
However as per the analysts the role of mainstream politicians has been dismal also. Instead of joining hands to fight out militancy and separatism the mainstream politicians are hell bent on outwitting each other in their race for power. This does not augur well and the separatists and Pak agents have taken its full advantage over the years, analysts add.
Instead of fighting fault with each other the mainstream parties including Congress, NC, PDP, BJP, PC, PRP, NPP and others should give a united fight to separatists so that common masses in Valley as well as the state get a message that the separatists were harming their interests.
This could go a long way in marginalizing the separatist and the militants in Valley and would have also helped in restoration of peace in the state.
If the mainstream political parties whether in power or opposition if jointly launch a crusade for peace in the Valley and educate people about the damage and destruction caused to the state by 26-year long turmoil, the day will not be far away when people in Valley will revolt against separatists and terrorists, feel analysts.
