Jammu, June 3: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Adv Jasvinder Singh in regard to roads in various Districts of Jammu and Kashmir including rural areas are mostly in dilapidated condition, a Division Bench (DB) of State High Court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal directed respondents to file status report and ordered that In the meanwhile, wherever required necessary repair work shall be effected to make the roads travel worthy. After hearing Adv Parveen Kapahi appearing for the PIL who submitted that right to have properly maintained roads is engrained in the fundamental right guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India, the Division Bench of High Court issued notices to Chief Secretary J&K, Commissioner/Secretary PWD, Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir, Commissioner JMC, Commissioner SMC and Commissioner/Secretary PHE which were accepted by Deputy AG PS Chandel and directed them to file response within three weeks.
