After humiliation of students, parents stage protest against School authorities, CEO Anantnag | Radiant Public School fee issue: | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, June 3: Parents of students studying in Radiant Public School Anantnag today alleged that school authorities of humiliating students and forcing them to pay September-October 2014 fee, despite the fact that High Court had directed them to exempt the students from the same. Protesting students and their parents said that besides High Court orders. Directorate of Education had also issued a circular directing all the private schools to exempt parents from paying fee for the Sep-Oct. Last year after flood fury in Kashmir, State High Court had issued directions asking private schools not to charge school fee for Sep-Oct from parents. Reports said that scores of parents from Radiant Public School located at Batengoo Anantnag staged a protest against the school management and Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag. The protesting parents alleged that school authorities are not allowing students to sit in the classes and after every one or two days, students are forced to leave the school. They accused Chief Education officer of having hand in glove with private school authorities. "I was forced to pay Rs 2000 for Sep-Oct as I had no option. There are other many parents who cannot afford this. We fail to understand why any action is not being initiated against this school," Bilal Ahmed, the father of a student told a local news agency. They said that Chief Education Officer Anantnag instead of initiating action against the erring school prefers to humiliate parents who call him for help and action. "In front of me same Chief Education officer Anantnag mislead MoS Education Priya Sethi about the same issue by saying that schools in Anantnag remained closed for only six days," Fida Hussian working with New Delhi based Zee News told Early Times. Pertinently, soon after floods, the court, while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), had directed the schools in Kashmir not to charge any fee from the students in view of the devastating floods that hit the Valley in the first week of September. After reports that schools were demanding fee from the students, the J&K High Court had also issued notice to 59 schools and had asked them to explain reasons for charging tuition fee and bus fare for the months of September and October. When contacted, an official from Radiant Public School told media agency that they have not received any notice from the High Court. He added that the school has its own rules and we (management) know how to manage the affairs of the school. |
