Jammu, June 3: AIIMS Coordination Committee today said BJP should step down and withdraw from the government for dignity of people of Jammu to establish the institute in Jammu. "If BJP really want to restore dignity and pride of Jammu, then there is no harm in withdrawing from the PDP led government," Committee chairman Abhinav Sharma told reporters here this afternoon. He also criticised BJP for being power hungry. Sharma said fight for AIIMS will intensify and on June 5, the committee has appealed to the civil society to assemble at Parade ground from where a candle light procession will be taken out. "The deadline to the BJP to clear their stand on setting up AIIMS already announced for Jammu, now the agitation will be intensified for our right," said Mr Sharma. He said they have no objection in having AIIMS for Kashmir but it was first announced for Jammu. "It is unfortunate that Jammu never got strong leadership. Either it was Congress or now the BJP, the voice of Jammu never reached the right corners and issues never addressed," he added. He alleged that BJP has compromised the interest of Jammu. Future course of action will be decided in June 6 Coordination Committee meeting. Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has already confirmed AIIMS will be established in Kashmir. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on May 27 during a Jammu bandh on AIIMS issue asked Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh to visit New Delhi with party leadership to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the issue. |
