| Despite having knowledge of illegal medical shop, Health minister favours Munna Bhai MBBS | | |  Arun Trisal

Kathua, June 07 :- The proverb Darkness in foot of light house these days suitable for JK health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh who vows from high stages for bringing revolution of development in Medical sector and make the high command/ people of urban areas fool. Despite having the knowledge of illegal medical shops being openly run by his supporters in Basholi constituency, he turns face and discards the reality. He has equal share in playing with the lives of innocent patients hailing from remotest areas by his followers and Munna Bhai MBBS.
Dozens of illegal Chemists and drugs shops are running without licenses even shopkeepers have not pharmacy degree but they treat patients like expert surgeons. When they unable to treat the patients in midst of the treatment, they ask them to approach hospitals.
Black marketing of medicines and substandard equipments are openly used by these Munna Bhai MBBS in Sanaghat, Sialag, Dhar Mahanpur, Kagroor, Jhankhar, Mahanpur and even at Basholi bus stand.
In a string operation by ET a shop keeper disclosed big names involved in the menace including health minister and said shopkeepers collect amount for grafting to Drug control department.
A 52-yr old Munna Bhai MBBS runs an illegal medical shop at Landhani- Sannaghat without having license or requisite degree/diploma. Dozens of patients consult him everyday due to lack of medical facility and shortage of staff in Primary Health centre. Munna Bhai has hidden his name but he is registered in Voter list.
Munna bhai said he has been in profession for 2 years but he is not alone who runs medical shop and treat patients without license. He disclosed that many other illegal shops are running openly in other adjoining areas. When asked about menace, he said they collect huge amount and shut down the mouths of persons in Drug control department.
He said the Health Minister visited the area and such shopkeepers asked about licenses but minister made excuses and said who asked to show your licenses and urged the shopkeepers to serve the people.
Villagers said many patients lost their lives in previous years after taking medicine or consulting these shopkeepers. People raised the issue at large scale but no action was taken against these Munna Bhai MBBSs as they are supporters of health Minister. Ironically few shops are running on Forest land. Forest department could not take action due to support from blue eyed persons to these shopkeepers.
When contacted to Rakesh Singh Slathia, Inspector, Drugs & Food Control Organization at Kathua, he said he paid surprise visit in the area but got nothing like such illegal shop but locals informed him about the running of several shops in the remotest area. He said shops might be closed on that day but ensured to pay another surprise visit. He said strict action will be taken against such Munna Bhai MBBSs.
It is mandatory to mention here that who will take action against them when department is itself involved in menace and Health Minister tries to secure his vote bank. Who cares about victims of contractors of the society? People sought strict action against these shopkeepers and persons involved in the menace. |
