Kashmir Inc corners Drabu, seeks 'explanation on failures' | No ‘Bhangra Palay’ celebration on 100-days of alliance! | | Abdul Majid
Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 7: Even as the Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janta Party alliance is completing 100-days in office, Kashmir traders today took a dig at Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu asking him if the occasion was worth any "Bhangra Palay" celebrations for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "In words of Mufti Sahib, you are the man behind the alliance… But we ask you has there been even an aota of achievement on the part of this government which could be celebrated on completion of 100 days," the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation President Mohammed Yasin Khan asked Drabu in the KTMF handout. Khan said instead of prioritizing developments like rehabilitation of flood victims in Kashmir and construction of artificial lake in Jammu, the government was busy with entertainment. "100 days of any government are always evaluated in terms of achievements. But what has been your achievement other than taking government top brass to hang around with Bollywood actors in Mumbai and hosting of Chakri programs in Kashmir," Khan asked Drabu. Khan said it was supposed to be the primary responsibility of the government to prioritize the revival of business activities and rehabilitation of flood victims devastated by September 2014 floods. "Instead of seeking compensation and other funding from the central government, the Finance Minster recently said the alliance wasn't formed for any financial gains. If not development of this state than what was his agenda? It is the simple question everyone is asking," Khan said. He said Drabu even politicized the recent visit of Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan for his personal gains. "Instead of the making the visiting dignitary meets the business communities of Kashmir and Jammu, RBI Governor was taken for a tour of Drabu's constituency… What did Jammu and Kashmir regions in gain out of the visit?" he asked. Khan said on one hand the rehabilitation of flood victims in Kashmir is awaited and on the other hand Jammu is craving for funds to complete work on construction of the much-needed artificial lake. "As if all these misadventure were not enough, Drabu drafted the inhuman employment policy which has left lakhs of youth of Jammu and Kashmir at the verge of suicide because his policy only speaks of exploitation," Khan said in the handout. "If 100 days of governance is about leaving 33,000 flood hit traders to fend for themselves, if 100 days of government is about leaving over one lakh flood hit people unheard then it's time for celebrations," Khan ridiculed. Talking to Early Times, Khan said if the Finance Minister responds to his queries, he would be the first to encourage some dance show on completion of 100 days. "If Drabu's role is proved significant for any achievement in development of Jammu and Kashmir, we would treat it as time opportune for Bhangra," Khan said adding "but the problem is that both Jammu and Kashmir are suffering, alike". "One man show is brining disrepute for the government which was expected to do better than the previous regime," Khan said in a veiled attack on previous Omar Abdullah led government. |
