PROs demolishing BJP Ministers' PR thick and fast 6/8/2015 12:04:54 AM Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: The public relation officers of the BJP Ministers are bent upon demolishing their public relations as their incompetence and ineptitude is projecting the Ministers in poor light and many of those who have years of relationship and acquaintance with these BJP ministers now perceive that power has inflated them arrogance. The alienation is fast setting in as the PROs of the Ministers have no idea of managing and developing public relations and on the contrary they are fast destroying the relations that these Ministers have developed during years of their political struggle. "I have known him for years and he too values our relationship, but I have called him on his cellphone over twenty time; only thrice my call was responded and every time I was told that the Minister was in a meeting, the PRO did not even bother to ask me my name" said an officer in the university, who claimed to have close proximity to a senior Minister, expressing anguish. Public relations are the investment of a politician and if they are not valued, it can cause serious damage to the reputation and standing of the person" he said questioning appointment of novices as PROs. "PR is a highly professional thing and politicians cannot afford to have such people as PROs who have no idea of this field" he added. Another acquaintance of a senior BJP Minister was particularly hurt by the treatment meted out to him by his PRO. "For one hour, I was not heard and the PRO was continuously busy on his cellphone, passing instructions to the officers of the departments under his Minister for getting his personal chore done" said a senior citizen who had known the Minister closely for years. "He was taking details from his family member on one phone and instructing an office in JDA on the other, and it carried on for half an hour. Is it what PROs are appointed for?" he questioned. "This Minister has put in decades of hardwork to develop a good PR and reputation amongst the people, but in just a few months, these PROs have done irreparable damage to it" he added. Sources in the BJP disclosed that the PROs with the BJP Ministers have been appointed on recommendations of the RSS leadership and since they have no prior experience of working with the Ministers, they are inept at handling the critical responsibility they are assigned.
