Derailing peace motive behind Jammu clashes 6/7/2015 11:57:20 PM When during the last several years posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were not posted on electric poles and houses,two days before the anniversary of the operation Blue Star,why did these posters surface in a particular area which triggered violence leading to the death of one Sikh youth and injuries to seven others,including three policemen,in clashes between the protesters and the security forces ?This is the main question that the Government has to probe into. Enquiry is called for simply to determine whether the posting of Bhindranwale's posters was part of some mischief or not ? Enquiry is called for to determine whether the police over reacted or not ? One simple question. Did the surfacing of posters of Bhidranwale,in particular area,amounted to threat to peace ? If it was not why did the police start removing the posters which was followed by resurfacing of the posters on the next day ? If the pasting of posters carrying the pictures of Bhindranwale posed a threat to peace in Jammu why did the intelligence agencies remain ignorant of the plan ? Why did the sleuths of intelligence agencies remained ignorant about those elements or forces that were responsible for the mischief ? And had the intelligence agencies been able to discern the mischief in advance the trouble could have been averted. There is still time for the sleuths of intelligence agencies to identify the youth who were responsible for pasting the posters of Bhindranwale so that they could be arrested and legal action initiated against them.If these mischief mongers were detained they could divulge the agencies that were behind the mischief There are several questions that continue to remain unanswered because of the confusion created by the seriousness of the situation that was created by the over reaction from the police.And the affected families in areas affected by clashes and violence have one question to ask from the Government. Were mere pasting of posters of Bhindranwale held more threat to peace than what the separatists do in Kashmir ? Another question: When the security forces avoid over reacting while dealing with demonstrations,rallies of Kashmiri separatists why did they over reacted to the reappearance of posters of Bhindranwale ? One thing is certain. Forces and elements inimical to the PDP-BJP coalition Government may have committed the mischief or may have incited a group of youngmen to paste posters of Bhindranwale.These elements,having lost power in the Assembly election,may be trying to destabilize political and security situation in the region of Jammu which could ignite trouble in Kashmir too. All these issues have to be probed by a high level committee that the Government may set up.In addition to this the Government should initiate measures for providing compensation to those who suffered injuries and heavy financial assistance is needed for the family of the youth who lost his life.If it is possible one person from the deceased's family be given a job in some Government department.Yes, if the protesters treat police action unawarranted it should be accepted. But when the main demands of the agitators were conceded by the Government what was then the provocation for the youngmen of a particular community to hold demonstrations and block traffic on various routes ? The Government has already initiated legal procedures against one police official who opened fire and has been book on charge of murder. The official has been suspended. Another demand conceded by the Government was the shifting of the SSP. The Government also has decided to hold a high level enquiry into the incident.But a section of Sikh Youths, possibly they may have been incited by some political leaders, had no reason to paste posters of Bhindranwale when people in Amritsar observed the anniversary of the operation Blue Star peacefully. Yes,about 20 youths were arrested when they were trying to force shopkeepers toshut their shops.That was all.Why a sudden burst of anger on the streets of Jammu,Poonch,Srinagar and Udhampur ?
