Rains trigger landslide at Ward -3 of Ramnagar | | | Early Times Report Udhampur July 1: The incessant rainfall that lashed the Udhampur district today triggered landslides, at Ward -3 in Ramnagar. No injury was, however reported so far. Sources said that immediately after the incident some administrative officials visited the spot and asked the flood control department of Udhampur to look into the matter. AEE Flood Control Department also visited the spot and assessed the magnitude of the landslide. Meanwhile locals alleged whenever it rains heavily the landslides is witnessed at this place and it was reported for the first time in 2005. They also recalled that an application through the then DC PK Pole also has been moved to the Irrigation & Flood Control Department Udhampur in the year 2012 in this regard. Later the matter was raised by then DC Basheer Ahmed Khan but till date no action has been taken in this regard. "Due to this land slide the old Ramnagar city is virtually is divided into two as the road passing through this area is the only connectivity to Chili Choir area. Locals have demanded due funds to be released to take preventive measures so that public of said area may not suffer. |
