Achieves only 50% target under IAY | JK registers another failure | | Early Times Report srinagar, July 1: It seems the state of Jammu Kashmir is not interested in availing the benefits of centrally sponsored schemes. Registering yet another failure, the state has achieved only 505 target under the IAY during 2013-14. Official sources said hundreds of cases were pending clearance and a few cases have been accorded sanction to construct houses. Official data revealed that only 15.79 percent cases were sanctioned during the last year. IAY is meant for providing houses to BPL families in rural areas. The scheme aims at replacing all Kacha houses by 2017. According to official data the state had an annual target of 13484 houses under the scheme in the last year. but only 2129 cases were sanctioned and only one was completed. The guidelines of the scheme require the state to complete construction within one year. This year the state has to construct 13848 houses. 10957 beneficiaries are already registered, as per official reports. J&K has been allocated an amount of 5320.273 lakh under the scheme for 2015-2016. Director Rural Development Kashmir, Tasaduq Jeelani told newsmen that model code of conduct and floods delayed the project. He hoped the achieve the target this year. |
