No subsidy to bhandarawalas | PM Modi disappoints Amarnath Yatris | | Early Times Report jammu, July 1: Shri Amarnath Barfani Langar Organization (SABLO), which plays an important role during the annual holy Shri Amarnath Yatra, is feeling disgusted. So much so, it has lamented the indifferent attitude of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards the devotees of Shri Amarnath. The SABLO was hoping that the Prime Minister would ensure the organizations, which set up langars at different places en-route the Holy Cave Shrine for providing food free food to the Yatris, would get the food items at subsidized rates but central government has not made any such move and has followed the footsteps of its predecessor Congress led UPA government. Actually, the SABLO had expressed the hope that the Prime Minister would take personal interest in the Yatra and ensure subsidy for all the food items needed to be supplied to the Amarnath Yatris so that their pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine becomes less costly and more comfortable. But, according to president of the SABLO Vijay Thakur and general secretary Rajan Gupta, nothing of this sort happened. "Those who set up langars for the Yatris had expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help them by making the authorities give subsidy on the food items and the items which the Yatris use during the pilgrimage, but nothing of this sort has happened," they said, adding that the indifferent attitude of the Prime Minister and others responsible for the smooth conduct of the Yatra and making the pilgrimage less costly and more comfortable have only disappointed them. "It is obvious that the Yatris will have to spend more on the necessary food and other items," they further said. It is not the first occasion when the concerned authorities have disappointed the langarwalas and the Yatris by not giving subsidy on the food items. This is the third year in a row the Central Government didn't provide subsidy for the food items. It was some three years ago that the Congress-led UPA Government stopped subsidy on the food items. The worst part of the whole situation is that the so called pro-Hindutva Modi Government implemented the decision of the UPA Government in 2014 and 2015, thus suggesting that when it comes to the members of the majority community, the BJP prefers to follow in the footsteps of the fake secular Congress party. |
