Highly placed sources in the corridors of power revealed that government is working over the list of corrupt police officers who have amassed huge wealth by abusing their positions. "As of now the government has prepared a list of over 65 police officers from the rank of DySPs to the rank of DIGs", sources said and added that government has asked some intelligence agencies to prepare a statement of property including "benami" property amassed by these tainted officers as these police officers have managed huge immovable property through their agents and touts. Sources said that BJP leadership is mounting pressure on its coalition partner to take action against some police officers who have amassed huge property through illegal means and their role was negative in the 2008 Amarnath land agitation. Some BJP Ministers have asked the officials preparing the list of corrupt officers to have a detailed inquiry so that none of the corrupt police officer is left. Sources said that state government has even asked intelligence agencies to collect all information about police officers who have been indulged into business of real estate because most the corrupt police officers have invest their illegal money in real estate business. The police officers in question have managed to purchase hundreds of kanals of land worth crores around Jammu city periphery as well as in Samba district in the name of their touts or relatives. Most of the land is disputed and have been procured on very less rates. After purchasing the disputed land, the tainted/corrupt police officers use their influence and further manages the economical weaker persons to surrender the possession of land in their favour," reliable sources revealed and added that "the tainted officers in question, have track record that whenever they got transferred from executive wing outside Jammu, Udhampur, Samba or Kathua districts or in different wings of police department, the officers managed to modify their respective orders after greasing the palms of corrupt senior police officers." Sources further shared that "Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has directed the top officials to prepare another list so that the promise made to the general public of Jammu and Kashmir by PDP during Assembly elections to weed out the deadwoods is fulfilled without further delay." |
