BJP cowardly reverses its stand on July 13 as 'Martyrs Day': Harsh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 13: While the July 13 continues to be observed as a martyrs' day in J&K in BJP Partnered govt. with its declaration as a Gazetted State Holiday. Certain Saffron Leaders and Ministers have made themselves as laughing stocks by simply issuing the statements they are not participating in the said 'Martyrs Day', commented Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister. Reminding the BJP of its stiff opposition, while in opposition, to the observation of July 13 as martyrs day and its demand for cancellation of holiday, he regretted that the Jingoistic harangues of the Saffron brigade had tapered down to non participation in the said state function on said day only for lust of power and for keeping adulterous relationship with PDP alive. He said the observance of the said day as a gazette state holiday even in the BJP partnered govt. had raised several question marks over the rhetorical overtures of the Saffron Party and its loud exhortatious on nationalism and patriotism. Calling upon the BJP to clarify the govt. definition of the word 'martyr', Singh further sought to know the nomenclature given to the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the defense of our nation and state. He regretted that the State govt. which had ignored the supreme scarifies of the martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev who were hanged on 23rd March 1931 and refused to declare it a holiday, had continued with the practice of observing 13th July as a holiday with the BJP being an equal partner in the govt. Calling upon the BJP to reminisce the horrendous episodes of July 13, 1931 and thereafter with hundreds of incidents of arson murders, loot and plunder executed in the ambuscade with pandemonium that followed the killing of 21 Kashmiri people who had revolted against Maharaja's regime. |
