Desperate Omar admits PDP-BJP coalition would complete 6 yrs | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 13: The ousted Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah on Monday claimed that "all is not well" within the PDP-BJP coalition and described PDP as the "power hungry party" which entered into an alliance with BJP just to satiate its "lust" for power. Out of power Omar these days is looking for ways and means to remain in news and is still hoping against the hope that PDP-BJP coalition may break up and his party would get a chance to sneak in. Omar seems to have forgotten that soon after the Assembly election results were declared he rushed to New Delhi to strike a deal with the BJP high command to form the government and almost finalized the agreement. It was due to opposition within the NC, Omar had to cut a sorry figure. Otherwise he had agreed the Chief Minister would be from the BJP and he (Omar) would be accommodated in the union cabinet. Omar casting aspersions over the integrity of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and calling BJP-PDP alliance unholy is nothing more than frustration. He (Omar) is trying to provoke the coalition partners and is trying to drive home a point that "something is wrong " within the coalition. BJP staying away from July 13 official function has provided Omar with a chance to tear apart the coalition but he seems to have forgotten when PDP and BJP entered into an alliance they announced that their ideologies are different and both the parties won't compromise on their ideologies. Omar is trying to demonize PDP to rejuvenate his battered party and his cadres who have lost address since the day Mufti Mohammad Sayeed took over as the Chief Minister. Many NC grass root workers have joined the PDP and other parties and have already said goodbye to National Conference and Omar. The ousted Chief Minister while talking to reporters today asserted that "All is not Well" within the coalition but in the same breath he conceded defeat by acknowledging that PDP-BJP coalition would complete its six year term. Omar tried cornering the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for hosting an iftar party in New Delhi and claimed that BJP leaders had skipped it but the fact is that many prominent BJP leaders attended the party hosted by Mufti. It seems Omar was taken aback by Mufti throwing an iftar party in Delhi as Omar as Chief Minister refrained from socializing and meeting people and he never tried hosting such an event in Delhi. Since the day Mufti has taken over the reins of the state he has hosted many parties and has tried to reach out to each and every section of the society. On the other hand Omar as Chief Minister used to remain surrounded by his coterie and used to keep people away. Mufti has tried to seek the feedback from the ground, while as Omar as CM believed the inaccessibility is the only way to prove that he is the king and gave damn to feedback provided by the common people. Mufti as the Chief Minister has led from the front and has proved that leader has to reach out to everyone. Omar's dream of once again clinching the power at least for next six years won't come true and he indulging in mere rhetoric is not going to help his cause. |
