Early Times Report
Jammu, July 13: The BJP top brass played a "spoil sport" by not attending the iftar party which was hosted by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in New Delhi on Sunday.
Highly placed sources in New Delhi revealed: "Even while BJP's state ministers including Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Chowdhary Lal Singh, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Chowdhary Sukhnandan and Minister for Social Welfare and Forests department, Bali Bhagat were present in the Iftar party organized at Hotel Ashoka at New Delhi, all important national BJP leaders including Union Ministers were conspicuous of their absence from the party."
"Central leaders from either party did not appear on Mufti Sayeed's Iftar party in New Delhi on Sunday evening," sources added.
Though, as per sources, invitations were sent to Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh, BJP national president, Amit Shah, Union Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ashok G Raju and Minister of State in PMO and in-charge North East states, Dr Jitendra Singh. But all of them reportedly expressed regret. However, Vijay Goel made a short appearance but he too left the venue after a short interval," reliable sources informed and added that "Furthermore astonishing to see was that BJP national general secretary and the one who played a key role in cobbling agenda of alliance that formed BJP-PDP coalition government here in Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav too was conspicuous from his absence despite being formally invited."
The Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and former J&K chief minister and former Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad also expressed regret.
Vice President of the country, Hamid Ansari was the main attraction at the party while some known faces like former Sadar-e-Riyasat and MP, Dr Karan Singh, Rajeev Shukla, Manish Sisodia, Sharad Yadav, K C Tyagi were among others who attended the party.
Political observers opine that "As almost all the state Ministers of BJP were present in the said party but the national leaders including Ministers did not turn up at the venue further indicates that they are not happy with the way coalition government including its own party ministers, is handling the issues as well as governance".
