Jammu, July 13: Many areas in Chiralla tehsil of Doda district have not been supplied kerosene oil for the past eight months. Romesh Kumar, sarpanch of Bhallra, alleged that black marketing of kerosene by the depot owners in connivance with officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) has added to the woes of the people in hilly and inaccessible areas of Chiralla. "If the government claims that kerosene is supplied to the people every month, where is our quote going," asked Kumar, adding that people of far-flung areas of Chiralla are without kerosene for the last eight months. Though CAPD department always claims that there is sufficient quantity of kerosene in the stores, Kumar said, the reality is somewhat different in various parts of Chiralla including Sagnoo Padhra, Kundi, Glondra and Bhallra where there is acute shortage of kerosene. "Majority of the kerosene oil depots are selling the quota to the public transporters. It's happening with active support of the officials of CAPD," Kumar alleged. Not only this, he said, some K-oil depot holders have sublet their depots to others. When contacted, CAPD's Assistant Director Doda, Mohammad Sayeed categorically denied there was shortage of K-oil in Doda district. "Every month I sent the supply of kerosene oil to each depot, and till date I have not received any complaint about distribution of the oil," Sayeed said. |
