CF demands facilities at Jammu Railway Station | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 13: Citizens' Forum Jammu has demanded from the Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabu to fulfill the various facilities discussed and agreed upon by the Railway authorities with Citizens' Forum members in a meeting fixed by High Court of Jammu, on 24-11- 2011, in a PIL C/WITH court case of Citizen's Forum and others V/S UOI and others. The Railway authorities after formulating the minutes of the meeting decided that 22 genuine requirements of Railway Passengers will be completed in by 2013. President Citizens' Forum R K. Chadha along with S.S. Lehar Advocate, Arun Sharma Chief Engineer (Retd.) and Vikram Gaur member State consumer Forum and Railway authorities headed by Vishwas Choubay, DRM Ferozpur jointly, while presenting the minutes of the meeting in the High Court, Railway authorities gave in writing that all the following facilities will be fully completed by 2013. Other State Govt. officers were also present in the meeting by the order of the High Court. The list of facilities as agreed in the meeting and submitted in the court were: To check the black mailing of passengers by parking contractor; Barriers put by Security personnel outside Railway Station blocking the parking space be removed; Provision of Escalators, Wheeled Trolleys and Wheel Chairs; A Project for Conversion of Railway Station in to a part of world Class Station; Extra entry and exit points at the rear side of Railway Station like New Delhi and Old Delhi Railway Station; Provision of two additional Plat Forms at Jammu Tawi Railway Station; SRTC and JKTDC buses parking be not allowed inside Railway Station; Over Charging of Coolies and Porters; Provision of Pre-paid Taxies and Auto Rickshaws; More X-Ray Machines/ Scanners are require because of heavy rush of passengers; Provision of Electronic display boards outside the Railway Station for arrival and departure of trains. |
