Poor road connectivity: DB directs CS, Ors to file response within 4-weeks | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 13: : A Division Bench (DB) of J&K High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal directed Chief Secretary J&K, Commissioner/ Secretary PWD, Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir, Commissioner JMC, Commissioner SMC and Commissioner/Secretary PHE to file response within four weeks. After hearing Adv Parveen Kapahi appearing for the PIL whereas Senior AAGs Seema Shekhar and SS Nanda appearing for the state the Division Bench directed Chief Secretary J&K, Commissioner/Secretary PWD, Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir, Commissioner JMC, Commissioner SMC and Commissioner/Secretary PHE to file response in this regard. Court passed directions while hearing a Public Interest Litigation filed by Adv Jasvinder Singh highlighting that roads in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir including rural areas are mostly in dilapidated condition. Petitioner has pleaded that the proper technique in constructing and repairing of the roads is not being used despite the roads are being constructed and their maintenance by spending tax payers' money and people yet are deprived of better road connectivity.
