Uprooted flood affected families take refuge in govt school building | | | Early Times Report Vijaypur, July 13: Flash floods triggered by recent rains had apparently forced scores of families to take refuge in Government School Kamore building in Ramgarh area of Samba district. "The flood waters not only entered into the residential areas but also inundated hundreds of acres of agriculture land in the area, reports said. Meanwhile the uprooted people are complaining that they have been neglected by the state government and demanded adequate relief and compensation from the Government for their huge losses which villagers have suffered due to recent floods. Local said that many downstream villages of the district were badly affected in fresh flash flood which hit the district in recent past. "We have lost our standing crops and fields. We demand free ration and adequate relief for flood victims, said Pritam Singh, a local lamented. Taking a dig upon the local MLA and Ministers of Bhartiya Janta Party, the villagers said they showed us the dreams of 'Ache Din', but after being elected now they are not paying any heed to the grievances. "If these are ache din, we don't need it anymore, said Santosh Rani, another local from border village. They also alleged that even the Deputy Commissioner Samba during a meeting on Saturday had assured them of all possible help from district administration but nothing has been done so far. |
