Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 14 : Bollywood filmmaker , Vickrant Mahajan, along with eight students of Model Academy, celebrated India's 68th Independence Day in a historic way. According to press release, on August 14, the nine actors (comprising the Super positivity Group) performed a play called Yes Thank You Universe for 24 hours and 15 minutes and created a new Guinness World Record for the longest play in history. In the process, they broke the previous world record of 23 hours and 33 minutes that was created in New Jerseyin July 2010 by the American theatre group The 27 O'Clock Players. With this epic dramatic performance, Yes Thank You Universe became the first ever play in the 2,500 year old history of theatre to go on continuously for 24 hours or more. The play, written and directed by Vickrant, was based on the importance of positivity in life. It depicted a tale of two contrasting families (No family and Yes family), and how one's attitude governs one's eventual quality of life. It was based on Vickrant's 1,050 page stage play, which incidentally is also the longest stage play ever written. This is Vickrant's second world record in Jammu in less than a year. In September 2014, he had created a Guinness World Record for the longest speech by speaking continuously for 48 hours and 31 minutes at the KL Saigal Hall. That feat had brought the state of J&K its first official Guinness World Record. After listening to one of Vickrant's motivational speeches earlier this year, Dr Adit Gupta, joint director of MIER had invited him to his institute to do something historic. They both chose Independence Day as the occasion and positivity as the theme to inspire the students and public at large. Subsequently, Vickrant selected eight students from Model Academy and trained them for a month to perform a play on a time scale that had never been done before anywhere in the world. For the final performance, half the play (12 hours) was enacted collectively by the Model Academy students and the other half (12 hours) was enacted solo by Vickrant. The play was performed in front of a packed H.L. Gupta Auditorium at MIER. It started at 9:30 am on 13th August and culminated at 9:50am on 14th August. The MIER students who were part of this historic play were Apurva Gupta, Abhishek, Vanshika Singh, Divsurya Singh Jamwal, Reedham Sharma, Arslaan Mirza, Muneeb Khan Purnima Sharma, Ayush and Aryaman. |
