Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 26: The Education department is yet to appoint lecturers at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sudhmahadev, even as the academic session is about to complete in the winter zone. There are no lecturers to teach three main subjects- Biology, Hindi and Math-while just one month is left for the final exams, sources told Early Times. "12 posts of lecturers had been sanctioned for the school. But at present only six lecturers run the school, out of which three are on academic arrangement, said sources. They said around 100 students fall in the Medical stream and there is not teacher to teach Biology since the commencement of the current session. A teacher pleading anonymity said, "If students haven't touched the syllabus of those subjects for which we don't have teachers here, what will they do in the annual exam?" Lashing out at the government for its poor planning, particularly in education sector, Pratim Chand, a resident of Sudhamadhev, said, "It seems the Education Minister loves to make names every day by his stupid moves. Instead, he should focus his efforts on the schools like Sudhamadhev which are craving for official attention." Sources said the school authorities had many a time urged the Education Department to fill up the vacant posts of lecturers. "But the officials give verbally assurances that the posts would be filled within days," said sources. When contacted, Chief Education Officer Udhampur, Bishan Dass said three lecturers were recently transferred from Sudhmahadev school but no replacement was send. Hence the posts stand vacant. Dass said he had discussed the matter with higher authorities and assured that he would depute lecturers to the school as an internal arrangement within days. |
