NC man runs five student organizations in JU | Enjoys senior leader's patronage | | ET Report jammu, Aug 26: Taking Jammu University for a ride, a National Conference leader running five student organizations within the varsity uses them as a tool for his personal interests and blackmailing some reputed professors on one pretext or the other. Sources told Early Times that the leader, who is running these organizations with different names and titles, was once a scholar of Jammu University and later he got a job as lecturer on contractual basis by influencing the former Vice Chancellor who was at his beck and call. "His prime job is to use these student organizations to exert pressure on authority and defaming those who refuse to toe his line and refuse to give charity to these organizations," they alleged. Enjoying political patronage of a senior heavy weight leader of National Conference from Jammu, he floated back to back students unions in the varsity and exploited the authority for his personal benefits. He also took favors for his family and relatives in the shape of jobs in various departments in the campus. The story of his misdeeds began nearly six years ago when National Conference-Congress coalition Government took over the reins of State. He was a scholar in the varsity at that time and then to fulfil his nefarious designs, he floated his first organization with the name and title "National Secular Forum" and started launching protest against the varsity. Realizing the organisation worked, he formed other organisations, Jammu Student Forum (JSF), Student Scholar Forum (SSF), and a newly created women forum to `safeguard' women rights. "When this paper tiger got exposed, he changed his strategy and now with the help of some professors, a new organization of ST community was floated, sources said. "Despite being the creator of these organizations, he is operating them by putting forward his loyalists, lieutenants as their presidents. He blackmails the heads of different departments in the varsity for their benefits", they said. Sources alleged that the favourite slogan of these paper tiger organizations could be read in press notes, "Appeal Chancellor to intervene and …..going to launch a massive agitation etc.", but the reality was that they have not only a dozen supporters or activists and those who, assembled for photo session were handsomely paid. Sources further alleged that the incumbent Vice Chancellor refused to bow down against the pressure exerted by NC backed man. "The recent targets of these paper tigers are some professors who had refused to pay charity to his organizations. After NC lost power in State, the downfall of this man started. |
