Soz expresses grief over Janak's death | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 13: Ex-PCC chief Saifudin Soz has expressed grief over the sudden demise of Janak Raj Gupta (79), a veteran Congress leader and two-time MP from Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency, in a government hospital here this morning. He suffered a cardiac arrest late last night and was admitted to Super Speciality Hospital where he breathed his last. He first became a member of legislative council in 1969 and was elected as MLA from R S Pura assembly constituency in 1977 and 1983. Soz described Janak's death as a great loss to the party. "Apart from the party, his death has come as a personal loss to me," he said. He said the veteran Congress leader had always stood for the unity and integrity of the party. His contribution to the party would be remembered for ever, he added. Soz extended his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to the almighty for peace to the departed soul. Several Congress leaders including Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, party's state unit chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir and other senior leaders also conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved family. |
