Jammu, Sept 13: A youth, who happens to be the relative of an MLA and brother of a police cop posted at Loran police station, stabbed another youth with a sharp-edged weapon at Loran in Poonch.
While the hunt on to arrest the accused, the injured was shifted to the GMCH here in critical condition for advance treatment.
Following the incident, locals staged a protest against police, alleging that the accused was made to abscond by the brother of the accused namely constable Bashir Ahmed who was posted at Loran Police Station.
Meanwhile, Early Times when brought the relation between cop and the accused to the notice of senior police officers, including DIG Rajouri Poonch range A K Atri and SSP Poonch J S Johar, the constable was attached with DPL Poonch.
Speaking to Early Times, Johar said, "The constable has been attached with the DPL to prevent imminent influence in investigation, adding hunt to arrest the accused is on".
As per reports, the incident took place over the trivial issue which later turned into ugly when the alleged accused namely Mohd Yousuf, son of Ghulam Mohd of Bandantray, took out a dagger and attacked the victim in his neck.
Bleeding profusely, the injured was referred to the GMCH here. Meanwhile, police have booked the accused person under sections 307 and 342 RPC under FIR No 15/2015.
