Employed under PMRP, KPs allege harassment by Relief officials | Scarcity of accommodation for KP employees | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 13: While Kashmiri Pandits engaged under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) in Kashmir valley have been living in very tough condition, harassment at the hands of Relief and Rehabilitation officials is further aggravating their woes. A Kashmiri Pandit engaged under PMRP as teacher in 2010, has alleged that though he was already sharing the quarter with his cousin sister and family members in Nikus Camp Shopian; Deputy Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation Kashmir forcibly pushed another migrant into his small quarter, making life of his family and sister miserable. On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation Kashmir has refuted all the allegations and termed that KP teacher was cooking stories. Ajay Bhat, who got job under PMRP in year 2010, and got accommodation in J-7 block of Nikus Camp Shopian said that he had got a quarter on sharing-basis, with another employee in 2010. "The other partner left the accommodation and started living with his family in a village and for two years he didn't return. In the meantime, my cousin sister Meenakshi Bhat, who got job as Social Worker under PMRP in Pulwama in 2010, started sharing the quarter along with my old parents", he said. He further said that though his sister had applied for the quarter but she didn't get the official allotment of quarter and it was assured by the Relief and Rehabilitation officials that Meenakshi Bhat could share the quarter and allotment would be made on her name. "Though my sister had got job in 2010 but didn't get accommodation but a blue eyed KP Ravinder Koul, who got job in December 2014 was forcibly sent to our quarter, without any allotment", he said, adding that it was despite the fact that he had already informed the officials that her sister, second KP employee was already sharing quarter along with his family. "Here is a big nexus between blue eyed employees and officials of Relief that new comers get quarters but those engaged in 2010, their applications have been gathering dust", he said, adding that huge corruption was involved in the entire nexus. Deputy Commissioner of Relief and Rehabilitation Kashmir division Gulzar Ahmed Dar refuted all the allegations and said that the married employees, real brother and sister while those who have their families in Kashmir were given single quarters. "Earlier Deepak Kumar was sharing quarter with Ajay Bhat but he had left and started living with his family in a village. After nearly two years Deepak Kumar once again expressed desire to live in the quarter along with Ajay Bhat, latter refused", he said, adding that Ajay Bhat requested to send some other employee in place of Deepak. "Ajay Bhat had also approached Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Basharat Bukhari and had appealed to allot quarter on sharing basis with her sister. Minister had asked me to first ascertain if the other employee is Ajay's real sister but when we asked Ajay to produce documents, he failed", DC said. Deputy Commissioner further said, "Even we asked Ajay to ask her sister to give a written application but Ajay produced an application, without signatures of her sister." Deputy Commissioner further said that though there was shortage of accommodations and it was not possible to provide accommodation to all but plans were afoot to create more accommodations, after which the problem could be solved. |
