Distressed PM package employees seek shifting to Jammu | | | Early Times Report
SRINGAR, Sept 13: Perturbed over the prevailing conditions in the Valley and the problems being faced by them since joining the Government job in Kashmir five years ago, the PM package employees want their transfer to Jammu. A convention was held at Sheikhpora Budgam today by the package employees who in one voice demanded shifting to Jammu till the return plan of entire community was given a practical shape. The employees narrated their horrible experiences of last five years. The employees including males and females from all transit camps of Kashmiri attended the convention and alleged that since their joining the Government services in Valley they have been delinked from their community and society and they are leading a hostage life. After a threadbare discussion of demands the employees resolved to press the government both at centre and State that they should be transferred or adjusted in Jammu till the entire KP community takes a final decision on return to valley. Later, the employees unanimously passed a resolution that will be submitted by employees' core group to community leadership for taking the issue with the central government. The speakers alleged that the PM package has given only mental agony instead of mitigating the sufferings of displaced youth. The employees called this much hyped PM's employment package as a ``bondage package''. They said that if the government was truly serious to improve their economic conditions then this package should be implemented in Jammu rather than Valley as it was a known fact that majority of KPs were living in Jammu and they have been deprived of their due share of employment for last two decades. Accusing government of playing with the sentiments of the employees, they said that they have been put in clusters like hostages at different transit accommodations across valley since their appointment. They asked that how the government assured return of entire KP community in valley when they couldn't properly rehabilitate 1500 employees during last five years. Taking a dig at the previous centre government, they said that the job package announced for the Kashmiri migrants was associated with harsh set of conditions which are totally unconstitutional. These conditions proved to be very fatal for them as they had just become bonded labourers rather than respectable citizens or employees. They said that the conditional employment package is a grave violation of human rights. They urged the present dispensation at the Centre to withdraw immediately the doctrine laws linked with the package. The employees further said that they were feeling alienated and separated from family members particularly children, who have been left on the mercy of God. ``When whole of the community is presently residing in exile, it will not be possible for us to live and work here withouttheir guidance and cooperation,. Our life has become miserable for last five years and we have lost peace of mind'', said one employee while addressing the convention. Making an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they expressed the hope that Modi can provide justice to them. |
