JU's Bhaderwah campus cooking dangerous recipe for Rector's murder accused Cook | Administration illegally regularizes period of arrest as leave | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 13: The establishment of the Bhaderwah Campus of the University of Jammu is trashing service rules and hoodwinking law to illegally shield a Cook working at the residence of the Rector, who was arrested on charges of murder and allied crimes. According to the documentary evidence available with ET, Mohd. Ayaz, son of Mohd. Shafi, resident of Monda Sartangal, was arrested by Bhaderwah Police on charges of murder and allied crimes on August 10, 2014. The SHO informed the University authorities regarding arrest of Mohd. Ayaz Ahmad, who was working as cook at the residence of the Rector. The SHO informed that Mohd. Ayaz was arrested in FIR No. 108/224 u/s 450/302/307/147/148/149 RPC and was put in judicial lock up. The letter of the SHO was received by the establishment of the Bhaderwah campus and filed after seen by the Rector himself. However, administration of the campus, including hostel warden, Assistant Registrar and the Rector himself connived to regularize the period of accused cook's arrest as leave and reinstate him into service, by projecting that he was unwell and concealing the fact that he was arrested on charges as serious as murder. In a note put up to the Rector by the university administration, which interestingly does not have any date, it was proposed to regularize 'leave' of the accused cook, stating that as per the report of the warden of the boys hostel, Ayaz was unwell and was allowed 30 days earned leave from 4.10.2014 to 2.11.2015 vide order No. BC/JU/14/788 dated 1.10.2014, but he did not join despite reminders dated 9.12.2024 and 26.12.2014. He reported back on 5.1.2015 and informed that he was suffering from BP and was advised complete bed rest. He apologized for his fault. He produced an undated fitness certificate issued by one Dr. Ajay Khajuria, Medical Officer PHC Chinta, declaring himself as fit to resume duties. The Rector was requested to sanction 36 days earned leave and 26 days medical leave in favour of the accused cook to regularize his service, even as the Administration of the Bhaderwah campus, including the Rector himself knew that he was in judicial lock up during the period on grave criminal charges. Vide an order No. BC/JU/15/581, dated 17.8.2015, signed by I/C Assistant Registrar Bhaderwah Campus, 52 days half pay leave was sanctioned in favour of Mohd. Ayaz, cook Bhaderwah Campus, regularizing his service despite being officially informed by the SHO Bhaderwah police station that Mohd. Ayaz was in judicial custody. Interestingly, to hoodwink the law Bhaderwah campus even got E/L application forms filled up by the accused cook for the period during which he was under arrest. Repeated attempts to contact the Rector failed as his phone was persistently not reachable. |
