NC stoking communal tension by seeking legalization of beef sale

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 13: The National Conference is making another attempt to stoke communal tension in the Jammu and Kashmir. The party which has suffered its worst ever electoral defeat has now said it will bring in bill in the coming session of the Assembly to bring change in the Ranbir Penal Code on making sale of beef a legal.
The party in a statement has said the Government should bring in an ordinance to prevent an explosive situation on Eid-ul-Azha where traditionally cow sacrifices are commonplace all across the State.
The NC by using such a language on 'cow sacrifice' has stoked the communal tension as it knows that even usage of such a language would evoke strong reaction from a community which constitutes 35 percent of the population and could set the country on fire also.
The party for its petty parochial assumed political gains is trying to destablise the State while it has all along being giving a pretense that it wants to keep the State as one and lives by the 'secularism'.
The NC which has been power for most of the times especially when its founder father was in the front to lead agitation against the then Dogra rule, didn't realize the need to bring about the change in the RPC. Not only NC, even the hardline separatist Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani who had remained the member of the State Assembly was lost on this account. But it also reflects that these leaders at that time had realized that it was communally sensitive issue.
"The NC headed by de-facto president Omar Abdullah is making every attempt to give it a communal colour. He had in the past challenged the accession and now he is making it an issue which can bring the State to the situation of the 2008. And that will be the last nail in its political coffin," said a senior NC leader, who is critical of the policies of the Omar Abdullah.
