People seek stern action against land mafia 9/13/2015 11:32:21 PM Arun Trisal Early Times Report Kathua, Sept 13, The land mafia is operating in Kathua with impunity with some influential people enjoying patronage of the police are involved in land grabbing. There is no check on the price hike as the mafia fixes the rates at its sweet will. Speaking to Early Times, here on Sunday, Tarsem Chand said that administration with the support of common people should fight the land grabbers and the land mafia. Most of the politicians who have more of property but shown lesser income/property to the Election Commission to take cognizance of the involvement of the politicians in land grabbing. The revenue department, it seems is part and parcel of the mafia. The rates fixed by the mafia have made it unaffordable for the commoner to purchase land for house construction. At several places the cost has gone up to one lakh or even two lakhs per marla.
