'Open Session on Safe Driving' held by ARTO Samba | | | Early Times Report Samba, Nov 30: MVD Samba today conducted driving test for prospective drivers and held general awareness program regarding traffic rules. The program was held under the supervision of ARTO Samba, Er. Kuldeep Singh. About 150 applicants took part in the general session about safe driving . Before conducting the test, ARTO Samba informed the applicants that approximately 80 % percent of road accidents take place due to human error and these can be prevented by inculcating self discipline and traffic sense on the road. He further apprised the applicants that before going for the driving test the aspirants should join well recognized driving institutes for learning basic rules of driving which can play a big role in saving their as well as others life on the road. He impressed upon the applicants for wearing good quality helmets while driving two wheelers and use of seat belt while driving four wheelers. Also, drivers must avoid use of cell phones, head phones while driving, as nowadays it has become a cause of road accidents. As per the analysis of past statistical data compiled by the Commission for Global Road Safety, the youth are the most vulnerable to the road accidents and 85 percent victims of road accident are youth between age group 16-45 years. "We should avoid rash driving and observe traffic rules properly particularly traffic lights in the rotaries. We should not jump the traffic light signal which potentially can cause accident," said ARTO Samba. He further appealed to the public in general to create awareness among the masses for learning traffic rules especially while parking vehicles as chaotic parking lead to public inconvenience and accidents. |
