| Development eludes Gundana despite Tehsil tag | | | Bijay Charak

Jammu, Nov 30: Nearly 40 kilometres away from district headquarter Doda, the newly created Tehsil Gundana has remained untouched by development.
Mohmmad Rayaz a resident of Gundana said that it is irony that after getting the status of tehsil, Gundana is still untouched by development, as schools lack basic amenities, health units san doctors and facilities and poor road connectivity keeps tehsil inaccessible for six months in a year.
He disclosed to Early Times that over 800 students are admitted to government higher Secondary Gundana each year but teachers' strength remains meager and as a result students are deprived of class room teaching in many subjects.
Rayez further said that ten years back, state government sanctioned grid station and this was completed in 2012 but still the station was not functioning for reasons best known for PDD higher authority. Link road from Doda to Gundana is the only road of Tehsil but is in worse condition. It was constructed six years back but till date it was not black topped .
In papers Gundana has Zonal Education Office, Block Development Office but the education office is functioning in other tehsil. There is no Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar or even a Patwari and a lone clerk manages the revenue office. Deputy Commissioner Doda, did not respond to repeated calls. |
