SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The much expected transfers of officers in the civil and police administration could not take place in last Cabinet meeting as differences emerged among the Ministers of PDP-BJP over this important agenda of Cabinet meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed on November 19.
However one of the PDP Ministers on Monday said that the Cabinet which is meeting on Wednesday is likely to order some transfers in administration and police. "The Cabinet is meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed. Though it is a routine meeting but some transfers in police and civil administration are likely to be ordered," the Minister told Early Times.
The agenda of the meeting was not circulated, till late Monday evening.
Sources however said that soon after the agenda of the transfers was taken up in the last Cabinet meeting there were differences between the Ministers of Peoples Democratic Party and Bhartiya Janta Party. "The basic reason for the fight between the Ministers was over the placement of some senior officials and police officers," sources said.
Sources said that there was no consensus between the two sides and as such the decision about the placement of top officials could not be taken.
Sources said that it was expected that both PDP and BJP would evolve consensus over the transfers of police and civil officers. "While some of the BJP Ministers were in favour of choice postings for some top officials, the other side opposed the move as they wanted their own persons to be placed at their favorite postings," said sources.
Sources said that following differences it was decided to keep on hold the transfers of police and civil officers.
Sources also said that transfers of the district Superintendents of Police (SPs) was agenda of the Cabinet while the Cabinet was also to issue orders for appointment of new Director of Vigilance.
